Jan Erik Hoff Confirmed as Kongsberg Maritime CFO

Kongsberg Maritime has appointed Jan Erik Hoff as its permanent Chief Financial Officer, completing a leadership transition that began after the company’s stock-market listing earlier this year.

Hoff had been serving as acting CFO since June and will now join Kongsberg Maritime’s Executive Management Team as the company moves forward as a standalone maritime technology business.

From investor relations to the CFO role

Hoff brings significant experience from within Kongsberg Gruppen, where he previously worked as Group Vice President for Investor Relations.

After Kongsberg Maritime was listed in April, he took responsibility for Investor Relations and Business Intelligence within the maritime business. He subsequently became acting CFO on 18 June 2026.

His permanent appointment places financial leadership alongside his previous experience in investor relations and business intelligence—areas that are particularly relevant as Kongsberg Maritime develops its strategy as a separately listed company.

Hoff said the company is well positioned through its technology portfolio, market presence and workforce, and that he looks forward to supporting its growth plans.

Leadership change follows Kongsberg Maritime separation

The appointment comes after Mette Toft Bjørgen decided to step down from Kongsberg Maritime.

Bjørgen became CFO when the maritime business was listed in April. Prior to the separation, she had served as CFO of Kongsberg Gruppen and was originally expected to take the CFO position at the newly standalone maritime company.

Kongsberg Maritime CEO Lisa Edvardsen Haugan thanked Bjørgen for her contribution during the listing process and backed Hoff's move into the permanent role.

For Kongsberg Maritime, the change comes at an important stage in its corporate development. The company's separation from Kongsberg Gruppen means that financial management, investor communication and strategic execution will increasingly be handled within the standalone maritime organisation.

Why this matters

  • Maritime technology suppliers: Leadership changes at major technology companies can influence investment priorities, product development and commercial strategy.
  • Shipowners and operators: Kongsberg Maritime's technology portfolio spans areas directly relevant to vessel operations, automation and digitalization, making its growth strategy relevant to customers across shipping.
  • Investors and industry partners: Hoff's background in investor relations and business intelligence adds continuity between the company's listed-market transition and its next phase of growth.
  • The wider maritime sector: Kongsberg Maritime's evolution as a standalone listed company highlights the increasing commercial importance of maritime technology within the broader shipping ecosystem.

With Hoff now confirmed as CFO, Kongsberg Maritime has completed another step in establishing its leadership structure following the April listing.

The next focus will be how the standalone company translates its technology capabilities and market position into sustained growth.
For shipowners, the outcome will be reflected not only in financial performance, but also in the technologies and services Kongsberg Maritime brings to the vessel of tomorrow.
